ACTualize-UFH, what is it?

ACTualize is an interactive tool dedicated to estimating the individual pharmacodynamics of unfractionated heparin (UFH) in cardiac surgery using a Bayesian approach with activated clotting time (ACT) measurements

This tool offers the possibility to estimate individual pharmacodynamic parameters and provides dosing regimen proposals

Last Updates

Version 0.1.2 - February 2, 2025

New features:

  • Algorithm Enhancements:
    • Expanded functionality to support the use of the application outside of cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) surgery.
    • Improved ACT prediction and UFH recommendation by incorporating CPB start time into the algorithm.
  • Others:
    • Protamine Administration Prediction: Now estimates protamine dosage at the end of surgery based on total UFH administered (bolus and infusion), with customizable protamine-to-UFH ratio settings.
    • Added a non-blocking warning when attempting to calculate a new UFH dosing recommendation without a new ACT measurement.
    • Added a blocking warning when calculating a new UFH dosing recommendation under CPB if the start date and time for the CPB have not been set.
    • Improved calendar visibility and UI

Bug fixes:

  • Mobile Compatibility
    • Drag-and-drop functionality for ACT measurements, heparin bolus injections, and heparin infusions is now fully functional on iOS and Android.
  • UI & Usability:
    • Browser auto-translation should no longer alters drug unit displays.

Known issues:

  • On mobile devices, there are still issues with scrolling when interacting with the drag-and-drop sections.
